Cockroaches

Cockroaches are brownish, black bugs that grow up to 2 inches long. They live in dark, moist areas and come out mostly at night. They are recognized by their 6 legs and oval bodies. Most can’t fly but they can quickly cover long distances of a few miles. They are difficult to kill and can live for up to a week without their heads. The health concerns that they pose to humans are mostly secondary as they don’t bite. They do carry a number of bacteria that will make humans sick including staphylococcus, streptococcus, hepatitis and more. When surfaces, dishes, and other household items aren’t cleaned properly the bacteria can be ingested.
